Offline POS Is Here: Sell, Print, and Sync When the Internet Is Back
Wise POS, the Windows counter app, now lets a till keep selling with no connection: search products, take cash or card, print a thermal receipt or full invoice, then sync. The company invoice number, stock issue, receipt, and FBR, PRA, BRA, SRB, or KPRA posting catch up when you are online.
The counter cannot pause because the router blinked. That is the gap offline POS is built for, and it is now part of Wise Digital Invoice. Wise POS is a Windows counter app: staff sell, take payment, and hand over a receipt with no connection. When the line is back, those sales sync into the same invoices, stock, and authority posting the web Point of Sale already uses.
This is the same till, moved onto the PC that has to keep working. The web Point of Sale stays the online counter. Offline POS is the one you open when that page will not load.
What you can do with no internet
After the first sign-in on that PC, the same people can sign in again with no connection. The app keeps the catalog it last downloaded: products, prices, customers, and the company print setup. A sale does not wait on the server.
- Find the product fast. Search by name or SKU. Keyboard shortcuts match a busy till: F2 or / for search, arrows and Enter to add a line, F4 for the customer, F9 to complete the sale.
- Walk-in or a named buyer. Most counters stay on the walk-in customer. Switch to a registered customer when the sale is on account.
- Discounts that stay honest. A line discount in rupees or percent, and a bill discount that is spread across the lines.
- Tax on the slip, calculated on the PC. Sales tax and further tax follow the synced product rates and the customer type, including further tax for an unregistered buyer who is not marked government or non-profit.
- Cash, bank, or card. Cash shows the change from the amount tendered. When accounting is on, bank and card payments use the synced bank account, and cash can use a cash account.
- An offline number immediately. Each saved sale gets a number such as OFF-000042 and stays on this PC until you sync it. You can edit it or delete it before it goes up. A synced sale is locked on the PC.
- Print before the server knows. Thermal receipt (F10) or the full invoice (F11), using the company template—classic, modern, half-A4, and the other layouts you already chose—plus logo, address, and the tax heading your digital-invoicing setup expects. The offline number is the bill number until the company number exists.
Rates stay on the synced price unless the company has Allow to set rates turned on. Cashiers then change a line rate on the cart; otherwise the price is locked.
What sync adds when you are back online
Two actions on the app header do the online work. Setup data refreshes customers, products, prices, print templates, settings, and the people allowed on this till. Sync invoices uploads the sales still waiting on the PC. You can send the whole waiting list or only the ones you tick.
A repeat upload of the same sale does not create a second invoice. The PC keeps a client id; the server recognizes it and returns the invoice that already exists.
- A company invoice number, beside the offline number. OFF-000042 stays on the invoice, on the list, and on the reprint. The online number is the one from your invoice series. Both can show on the thermal slip and the full invoice.
- The same checkout the web POS would have run. Sync applies the payment and the options saved with the sale. Walk-in sales follow the full path. Named customers can be posted unapproved, or skip the goods issue and the receipt, when the company allows those options—and Force unapproved keeps account sales on that path.
- Authority posting, if digital invoicing is on. A walk-in sale can validate and submit to the company’s authority—FBR, PRA, BRA, SRB, or KPRA—as part of that sync, the same way a web checkout does. The post happens when the PC can reach the server, not while the sale is offline. Named-customer options can skip that post when your process saves the invoice for later.
The Invoices screen on the app splits Not synced and Synced. Filter by date, customer, invoice number, or product. Reprint either column. Pending rows are the ones you can still edit.
Where this pays off
- Shops and pharmacies on a connection that drops in the afternoon.
- Restaurants and service counters that must print a slip before the customer leaves.
- Markets, exhibitions, and pop-up counters where the web POS will not load.
- Any till that should not stop between “payment received” and “the page timed out”.
How a company turns it on
- Turn on Point of Sale for the company, then Enable offline POS. It stays off until an administrator switches it on. Without that flag, the Windows app cannot sign in or sync for that company.
- Open web POS. The download for WisePOS-Setup.exe is on that screen once offline POS is enabled.
- Install on the counter PC. The first sign-in needs the internet: server address, email, and password. Setup data pulls the catalog onto the PC.
- Sell. Print. When the connection returns, sync the waiting invoices and refresh setup data if prices or customers changed in the office.
Several people can use one PC. The users allowed on that terminal come down with setup data, and after that first online sign-in they can sign in locally.
What to expect on a bad line
- The catalog is as fresh as the last Setup data. A price changed in the office this morning is on the till after the next refresh, not before.
- The first sign-in on a new PC needs the internet. Later sign-ins for those same people do not.
- Authority submission runs at sync. The customer still leaves with a printed bill and an offline number.
- Wise POS is the Windows app. The browser POS remains the online counter.
Questions counters ask
Does the customer get a receipt if we are offline?
Yes. Complete the sale and print a thermal receipt or the full invoice from the PC. The bill shows the offline number. After sync, reprints can show the company invoice number as well, and the offline number stays on the document.
Will FBR, PRA, BRA, SRB, or KPRA be posted while we are offline?
No. The sale is stored on the PC. When you sync, a walk-in sale can validate and submit to the authority that company uses, if digital invoicing is on and the sale was not saved to skip that post. The customer-facing slip does not wait for that response.
What if we sync the same sale twice?
The server keeps one invoice per offline sale. The second push returns the invoice that was already created, including its offline number.
Turn on offline POS for a company that already runs Point of Sale, or book a walkthrough if you want the Windows till mapped to your counter before the next outage. A 7-day trial is the place to practice a sale, a print, and a sync.
Wise POS is the Windows counter app. It sells and prints from the last synced catalog, then uploads invoices so the company number and authority posting follow the modules you already use. Screen labels can change between releases; the behaviour above matches the app as shipped.
